Two bits of jargon you'll hear constantly. They're simpler than they sound, and knowing them makes the rest of franchising click.
“Franchisor” and “franchisee” are a mouthful, so the industry shortens them to “zor” and “zee.”
The franchis-OR owns the brand and grants the license. The franchis-EE buys the license and runs a location. That's the whole relationship in two words.
Why it matters
When you read an FDD or sit in a discovery call, these terms come up constantly. Knowing who owes what to whom, the zee pays royalties, the zor provides the system, keeps everything straight.
